Recognition: Ireen Banda
Irene is a Zambian currently living in Sydney NSW. She has been working for Oxfam Australia for about 2 years after migrating to Australia from Zambia in 2008.
A few months ago, she was nominated by Oxfam Australia to enter Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Fun Fearless Female Awards, as a contestant in the “Role Model” category. She has worked for Oxfam on International Youth Partnerships programs for a while, supporting young people around the world in work they’re doing within their communities. We are proud to say she has been nominated with 10 other people in her category.
She has since made it to the list of finalists of the Fun Fearless Female Awards – which as she stated “I didnt see coming but it appears that I got quite a number of votes. Now that this has come to a level I didnt see myself being part of, I want to share this with the wider community as I continue to do my work“.
We are encouraging everyone to support this Role Model by voting, as she stands to represent not only the Zambian Community but the wider African Community in Australia through her dedication to work, and see a continued change and development among the youth of this world. The competition is still on and the voting continues at http://www.cosmopolitan.com.au/Fun_Fearless_Females_home.htm
Please Vote today.
“It may seem like a small and insignificant matter, but it does mean a lot to me in reaffirming that I do still have family around me” Ireen Banda.
